High School Students (Dual/Concurrent Enrollment)

Delgado Concurrent and Dual Enrollment Programs for High School Students

Dual Enrollment

The Dual Enrollment Program prepares students to become tomorrow’s leaders through a rigorous and relevant curriculum that stresses high academic achievement. This unique opportunity to begin your college education while still in high school facilitates the transition from high school to post-secondary education and consequently, earlier graduation from college.

Delgado Dual Enrollment allows you to earn college credits in your Career Pathway, which develop the qualifications necessary to obtain employment in occupations that are in demand in the current labor market.

Juniors and seniors who are at least 15 years of age and in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade with at least a 2.0 GPA are eligible to participate in dual enrollment courses. Sophomores may be considered for dual enrollment in special circumstances. Dual enrollment students are limited to seven (7) credit hours during their first semester and may take up to seven credit hours each subsequesnt semester, if eligible. Students can earn college credit from Delgado Community College, and may earn Carnegie Units in certain courses from their high schools. Delgado Community College dual enrollment courses are offered at participating high schools on their campus, and are taught by instructors certified to award college credit. Students may be eligible to take dual enrollment courses at a Delgado location if approved by their high school, and space in those classes are available.

High school students are currently defined as students on track for completing Core Four requirements, or earning a Career Diploma. Students may be eligible for tuition assistance through Tops Tech Early Start for Career Technical Education. Tops Tech Early Start provides up to $600 per academic year for any eligible 11th or 12th grade student attending a Louisiana public high school wishing to concurrently enroll for up to six credit hours per semester at a public college in specific programs. Additional fees may be required depending on the course.  For more information regarding TOPS Tech Early Start please visit http://www.osfa.la.gov/TTES.htm.  Contact the Delgado Dual Enrollment staff with any questions regarding tuition.

Students wishing to take courses that transfer to other colleges must meet the individual ACT or Delgado Placement Test score required for entry into those courses. Applications must be delivered to Delgado.  Books, fees, and transportation are the responsibility of the student.

Interested students should contact their high school counselor or dual enrollment office for an application, deadlines, and specific information on eligibility to TOPS Tech Early Start funding.

The following documents are required:
