Campus Police Department

The Campus Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for Delgado Community College. Campus Police Officers are commissioned by the State of Louisiana with full arrest powers. Officers are assigned to the City Park Campus, West Bank Campus, and Delgado Charity School of Nursing, as well as the Delgado Jefferson Site, River City Site, and Sidney Collier Site. The Delgado Campus Police Department will request the assistance of other law enforcement agencies as needed and has established positive relationships with local law enforcement agencies. Campus Police Officers provide uniform patrol services on each of its campuses using a variety of deployment strategies: vehicle, bicycle, and foot patrols.

The Delgado Community College Campus Police Department is dedicated to providing professional law enforcement services to our community. The Delgado Campus Police Department seeks and welcomes input from our school community regarding the quality of services provided. The Campus Police Department’s non-emergency telephone number is 504-671-6112. For emergencies, the number is 504-671-6111 or 911.

Weapons on Campus Policy

In accordance with LRS 14:95.2, with the exception of duly authorized law enforcement officers, carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon, by anyone on College property, at College-sponsored functions, or in a firearm-free zone is unlawful, and violators shall be subject to criminal charges and College discipline. Although Louisiana Revised Statute 32:292.1 allows for a person who lawfully possesses a firearm to transport it on campus in a locked, privately-owned vehicle in any parking lot, parking garage, or other designated parking area, Campus Police must be contacted prior to transport to determine the firearm’s compliance with this legislation. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors who are aware of a weapon brought to the College must immediately notify the Campus Police Department at (504) 671-6112.
