BTEC 283 - Techniques in Biofuel Synthesis1 lecture hour, 6 lab hours, 3 credit hours Application of knowledge of laboratory techniques to study synthetic biology and biofuel production. The course curriculum is centered on the use of modular biological parts to design regulated metabolic pathways. Engineered cells will then be analyzed for expression of target genes and related physiological activity. Regarding biological fuel production, the focus will be on the deconstruction of cellulose, and biofuel/biofuel additive synthesis, with feedstock design and protein identification being included to a lesser extent. Intended for students admitted to the Science Laboratory Technology degree program.
