MATH 120 - Contemporary Math3 lecture hours, no lab hours, 3 credit hours [LCCN: CMAT 1103]
Introduction to topics in contemporary mathematics. Topics may include the theory of finance, perspective and symmetry in art, formal Aristotelian logic, graph theory, probability and odds, statistics, elementary number theory, optimization, numeracy in the real world, and historical topics in mathematics that have influenced contemporary mathematics. (Topics will vary). Prerequisite(s): “C” or higher in MATH 097, or MATH-098, or MATH-114, or SPSM-099; or ACT Math score of 19-21; or score of 65-120 on the Elementary Algebra Accuplacer Placement Test; or score of 20-44 on the College Level Accuplacer Placement Test; or score of 250-262 on the Accuplacer Next Generation ANG QAS Placement Test; or socre of 200-249 on the Accuplacer Next Generation ANG AAF Placement Test.
