BIOL 211 - Microbiology of Human Pathogens

3 lecture hours, no lab hours, 3 credit hours
Pathogenic bacteria, fungi, protozoans, viruses, and helminths are characterized and etiology, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of related infectious diseases are described. (For general science and health science majors.) No credit for both BIOL 210 and BIOL 211. Prerequisite(s): “C” or higher in BIOL 141 and BIOL 143 or equivalent; or “C” or higher in BIOL 161 and 163; or a composite ACT score of 22 or higher and passed biology in high school with a grade of “B” or higher.
