MATH 120 - Contemporary Math3 lecture hours, no lab hours, 3 credit hours [LCCN: CMAT 1103]
Introduction to topics in contemporary mathematics. Topics may include the theory of finance, perspective and symmetry in art, formal Aristotelian logic, graph theory, probability and odds, statistics, elementary number theory, optimization, numeracy in the real world, and historical topics in mathematics that have influenced contemporary mathematics. (Topics will vary). Prerequisite(s):
- “C” or higher in MATH-097: Intensive Intermediate Algebra OR
- “C” or higher in MATH-114: Geometry and Trigonometry for Technology OR
- Accuplacer NG QAS Placement Score of 250 or higher OR
- Accuplacer NG AAF Placement Score of 200 or higher OR
- ACT Math Score of 19 or higher OR
- High School Transcript Less Than Two Years Old with the Completion of Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry with grades of “C” or higher AND a cumulative High School GPA of 3.0 OR
- MATH-020, which may be taken concurrently
