DMSU 200 - Ultrasound Patient Care

1 lecture hour, no lab hours, 1 credit hour
An introduction to the fundamentals of patient care knowledge and skills necessary to perform diagnostic sonographic procedures on all patient populations. Emphasis on medical terminology, ethical/legal aspects, written, verbal, and electronic communication, role of the sonographer , pertinent emergency care, sonographer safety issues and organization of the hospital and radiology/ ultrasound department. Note(s): The prerequisite for all first-semester courses is admission into the Ultrasound program. The prerequisite for all second- and third-semester courses is successful completion of all previous courses in the Ultrasound program.
