DMSU 222 - Physics and Instrumentation II

2 lecture hours, no lab hours, 2 credit hours
A continuation of Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation I. In-depth study of how acoustical characteristics influence longitudinal waves and particle oscillation.  Methods of measuring acoustical energy, power, and intensity and how this relates to the prudent use of ultrasound.  Longitudinal wave theory is used for in-depth study of the reflective characteristics of tissue, decibel notation, attenuation, TGC, transducer technology, and real-time imaging. Note(s): The prerequisite for all first-semester courses is admission into the Ultrasound program. The prerequisite for all second- and third-semester courses is successful completion of all previous courses in the Ultrasound program.
