Accountants prepare the reports and schedules that guide companies in evaluating efficiency, controlling costs, measuring profitability, and meeting regulatory requirements. Delgado’s Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting acquaints students with the principles, procedures, and theories of organizing and maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, tracking payroll, and preparing tax returns. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and is designed to train graduates to succeed in careers requiring a two-year degree.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful of the Accounting Associate of Applied Science program, the learner will be able to:
- Analyze and record financial transactions and properly report financial information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (SLO # 1)
- Identify and apply individual income tax and payroll tax laws (SLO # 2)
- Demonstrate professional business communication skills, both written and oral (SLO # 3)
- Master accounting and entry-level business software applications (SLO # 4)
- Perform accounting functions and applications in both a manual and a computerized accounting system (SLO # 5)
