Residential Construction, C.T.S.


CERTIFICATE OF TECHNICAL STUDIES PROGRAM
DIVISION: TECHNICAL DIVISION

The Residential Construction program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to lay out, fabricate, erect, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures using hand and power tools. The program also includes instruction in areas such as common systems of framing, construction materials, estimating, blueprint reading, and finish carpentry techniques.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of the Residential Construction Certificate of Technical Studies program, the learner will be able to:

  • Apply the required safety standards in construction (SLO # 1)
  • Construct projects from reading and interpreting blueprints (SLO # 2)
  • Estimate materials and labor in the building of a residential structure (SLO # 3)
  • Demonstrate team work skills necessary for a productive crew member (SLO # 4)
  • Demonstrate the ability to modify or repair problems associated with carpentry installation (SLO # 5)
