TECHNICAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM
DIVISION: TECHNICAL DIVISION
The Cosmetology Program provides opportunities for students to ascertain both the theoretical and practical skills as prescribed by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology licensure examination to demonstrate their knowledge and professional skills in all phases of hairstyling, manicures, pedicures, as well as skin care and make-up application. The program has additional admissions criteria, governed by regulations of the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology. Prospective students must contact the Cosmetology department housed in Delgado’s Technical Division to initiate the application procedure.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the Cosmetology Technical Diploma program, the learner will be able to:
- Manage and operate a full-service salon (SLO # 1)
- Apply safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology regulations (SLO # 2)
- Apply appropriate cosmetology techniques depending on client need(s) (SLO # 3)

REQUIRED COURSES IN MAJOR
Required grade of “C” or higher.
