Electrician: Small Industrial, C.T.S.


CERTIFICATE OF TECHNICAL STUDIES PROGRAM
DIVISION: TECHNICAL DIVISION

The Certificate of Technical Studies program in Electrician: Small Industrial is designed to prepare individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain, and repair electric apparatus and systems for the industrial environment. Includes instruction in the principles of electronics and electrical systems, wiring, power transmission, safety, job estimation, electrical testing and inspection, and applicable codes and standards.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the Electrician: Small Industrial Certificate of Technical Studies program, the learner will be able to:

  • Apply safe working practices as defined by OSHA and National Electric Code (NEC) in an electrical environment (SLO # 1)
  • Demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and estimate materials and cost from a blueprint (SLO # 2)
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and conduct routine maintenance of electrical systems/equipment (SLO # 3)
  • Wire commercial and industrial structures (SLO # 4)
  • Install electrical systems and equipment (SLO # 5)
