Cloud computing is the technology which reduces costs for processing, storing, and securing large amounts of data by using on-demand networked computers instead of local hardware to develop a system’s information technology infrastructure.
The goals of the program are: (1) to prepare students for entry-level positions in cloud computing by providing them with instruction on the overall computer information management of IT projects and IT support for cloud systems and (2) to provide the appropriate foundation for further studies in cloud computing.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the Cloud Computing Associate of Applied Science program, the learner will be able to:
- Describe the major characteristics of a cloud computing environment including the roles and boundaries between a cloud provider and cloud consumer (SLO #1)
- Define cloud security threats and vulnerabilities and describe cloud security mechanisms (SLO #2)
- Define and distinguish between cloud infrastructure mechanisms such as virtual servers, storage, usage, and monitoring (SLO #3)
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and utilize Linux systems (SLO #4)
- Effectively perform in and lead agile teams on an iterative project (SLO #5)
- Design and administer a database (SLO #6)
- Install and configure of VMware ESXi hosts and VMware vCenter Server (SLO #7)
