Pharmacy Technician: Entry Level Pharmacy Technician, C.T.C.


CAREER AND TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
DIVISION: ALLIED HEALTH
 
The entry-level Pharmacy Technician program will prepare students for practice as entry-level pharmacy technicians in a variety of contemporary settings (e.g., community, hospital, home care, long-term care) and for the national certification exam.

Student Learning Outcomes:
 
Upon successful completion of the Pharmacy Technician Entry-Level Career and Technical Certificate program, the learner will be able to:
 
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking skills related to math, pharmacology, and pharmacy operations needed for an entry-level pharmacy technician (SLO #1)
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply the communication and customer service skills needed for interactions with patients and other healthcare professionals (SLO #2)
  • Accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations applicable to entry-level pharmacy technician positions in community and institutional pharmacy settings (SLO #3)
  • Apply the laws governing the practice of pharmacy at the state and federal levels (SLO #4)
  • Transcribe, fill, and distribute prescriptions for medication in both the community and institutional pharmacy settings under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist (SLO #5)
