Delgado Community College Libraries
The Delgado Community College Libraries hold membership in LOUIS: The Library Network, a partnership of academic libraries whose primary purpose is to develop cooperation and foster resource sharing among Louisiana libraries. Membership enables access to the electronic resources acquired through collaborative collection development and purchasing. The Delgado libraries provide resources, print and online, for the educational needs of students and the instructional needs of faculty.
The libraries support the College curriculum by providing college-wide access to approximately 160,000 print volumes and 920 print journals. In addition to the print collection, the library collections contain more than 250,000 electronic books, more than 76,000 electronic journals, and 122 online databases to assist students and faculty with their educational and research needs. Library computer reference stations provide access to ISAAC, our online catalog, as well as to the electronic collections. This includes a virtual reference collection of titles commonly found in print on library shelves. The computers also provide access to MS Office, the Internet, the College’s Course Management System, Electronic Databases, Chat/Email Reference, and recorded information literacy sessions.
Other library services, both on-site and online, include–but are not limited to–the following: reference assistance; circulation; information literacy sessions; interlibrary loan and reciprocal borrowing and lending among participating LA institutions; intra-library loan between Delgado libraries; access to reserve materials, a computer print station, scanning/print stations, magazines and journals in print and electronic formats; and audio-visual materials.
