Delgado Community College Libraries

The Delgado Community College Libraries hold membership in LOUIS: The Library Network, a partnership of academic libraries whose primary purpose is to develop cooperation and foster resource sharing among Louisiana libraries. Membership enables access to the electronic resources acquired through collaborative collection development and purchasing. The Delgado libraries provide resources, print and online, for the educational needs of students and the instructional needs of faculty.

The libraries support the College curriculum by providing college-wide access to approximately 160,000 print volumes and 920 print journals.  In addition to the print collection, the library collections contain more than 250,000 electronic books, more than 76,000 electronic journals, and 122 online databases to assist students and faculty with their educational and research needs. Library computer reference stations provide access to ISAAC, our online catalog, as well as to the electronic collections. This includes a virtual reference collection of titles commonly found in print on library shelves. The computers also provide access to MS Office, the Internet, the College’s Course Management System, Electronic Databases, Chat/Email Reference, and recorded information literacy sessions.

Other library services, both on-site and online, include–but are not limited to–the following:  reference assistance; circulation; information literacy sessions; interlibrary loan and reciprocal borrowing and lending among participating LA institutions; intra-library loan between Delgado libraries; access to reserve materials, a computer print station, scanning/print stations, magazines and journals in print and electronic formats; and audio-visual materials.

Campus/Site Libraries

For specific hours and details about each location, please check the “About Us” tab on the Delgado Library Webpage

The City Park Campus Moss Memorial Library was originally located in a building constructed with funds bequeathed by Ellenora Moss, a Delgado family friend.  The original facility was demolished as result of damage sustained by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  Construction of the new Moss Memorial Library was completed in 2015, as a part of the Marvin E. Thames, Sr., Learning Resources Center.  The state-of-the art facility contains space for the library circulating and reference collections, the periodical collection, a Louisiana Collection of College Archives and reference publications directly related to Louisiana and New Orleans, centralized processing services, student small group and individualized study spaces, social gathering spaces, as well as instructional spaces for library instruction and the College’s Adult Education instructional services program.

The West Bank Campus Library is located in Building 2, Room 126, and has as a collection of over 26,000 volumes. The library subscribes to journals, magazines, and newspapers.  Materials support the instructional program and course offerings at the campus.

The Delgado Sidney Collier Site Library, was completed as the second phase of construction at the College’s Sidney Collier Site.  The original buildings, as part of the Louisiana Technical College, were damaged beyond repair as a result of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  The new state-of-the-art facility opened August, 2015, and houses the circulating, reference, and periodical collection, in addition to space for student study areas and a computer resource center.  The materials in the collection support the instructional program and course offerings at the site, as well as general community resources.  Four group study and one community resource collaborative meeting room are available for student, faculty, staff, and community use.

The River City Site Library contains a small collection of print materials pertinent to the courses and programs taught at the location. Study rooms and computers for reference work are also available.
