DMSU 223 - Physics and Instrumentation III1 lecture hour, no lab hours, 1 credit hour Continuation of DMSU 222. An introduction to Doppler theory and the instrumentation used to diagnose vascular disease. Study of acoustical wave behavior and instrument variables that are used to recognize and prevent image artifact. Introduction to computers and how they process data. Advanced study of the analog and digital processing performed by ultrasound instrumentation. Study of the theory of instrument performance tests and how to utilize test objects and phantoms to ensure that ultrasound instrumentation is calibrated and working properly. Prerequisite(s): DMSU 222. Note(s): The prerequisite for all first-semester courses is admission into the Ultrasound program. The prerequisite for all second- and third-semester courses is successful completion of all previous courses in the Ultrasound program.
