Honors Program

Why take Honors courses? They…

• Are intellectually stimulating
• Fulfill general education requirements and are transferable to four-year colleges
• Offer meaningful class discussions in a motivated learning environment (no more than 10 - 20 students per class, except in a few science courses)
• Offer opportunities for working and learning with other highly motivated students
• Promote closer and more nurturing student/ professor interaction
• Look great on your transcript and open doors to outstanding four-year colleges

What else does the Honors Experience offer?

• Wonderful educational travel opportunities in the U.S.A. and abroad such as Greece, England, France, and Costa Rica
• An opportunity to present papers, projects, and other works at state, regional, and national conferences
• Participation in cultural, social, and scholarly events
• Individualized advising and registration with no lines
• Honors graduation medallion and special recognition at commencement & honors ceremony
• Scholarships that cover tuition and student fees

One of the following requirements must be met to enter the Honors Program:

• 3.0 GPA at Delgado or other college
• ACT 22 or higher
• Placement score of at least 10 in English, 33 in Math or 69 composite
• High School GPA of 3.5 or higher
• Completion of Math 095 and all Developmental English and Reading

All of the following requirements must be met to graduate in the Honors Program:

• GPA of 3.4 or higher at graduation
• 15 hours of Honors courses
• HUMA 150 - Structure of Western Thought, the only required course in the Honors Program
• ACT 22 or higher
