You really can change the world!
Service Learning is a teaching method where students apply what they are learning in the classroom to meet real community needs. Join your fellow students in Service Learning and discover how to make a difference in the New Orleans community while bringing course concepts to life.
Delgado faculty have partnered with Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, the New Orleans Public School System and many other organizations that serve the Greater New Orleans region to design projects specific to their course learning objectives.
By participating in a Service Learning course you will
- Develop a deeper understanding and application of course material in a real-world setting.
- Help those in need while earning college credit.
- Gain experience to enhance your resume or application for further education.
A variety of classes already offer Service Learning as extra credit or as part of an overall grade. We are pleased to announce that our new lineup includes courses from nearly every discipline, location, and course design! Here is a sampling of academic areas that offer Service Learning opportunities, with more being added each semester.
- Fine Arts
- Interior Design
- Mass Communications
- Respiratory Care
